Gain Confidence With Invisalign!

By on May 5, 2015

What’s in a smile?

Healthy teeth that are straight, for one! If you’re embarrassed by a smile with crooked or misaligned teeth, it used to be that your only option was getting braces made of wire and metal brackets.

There’s a reason most people who get metal braces are kids: they don’t really have a choice! Braces don’t just repair a misaligned smile, they help adjust the bite and are an important tool to help get you your best oral health.

Adults have a choice when it comes to orthodontics. Even though 1 out of 4 American adults could benefit from braces, the long-term impact on appearance, the discomfort, and inconvenience of traditional braces just aren’t worth it.

Everyone in Carmel, IN deserves their best smile, and we understand why metal braces are so undesirable for adults looking to improve their smile. That’s we use Invisalign: the same results of traditional braces with none of the drawbacks.

Metal Braces vs. Plastic Aligners

Metal braces are unsightly, uncomfortable, and inconvenient. They haven’t changed much over the years, because they do a very good job of realigning teeth and repairing problems with bite. They’re designed with only function in mind.

Invisalign uses plastic aligners instead of wires and brackets. They’re much more comfortable and can be removed for cleaning, oral hygiene (brushing, flossing, and rinsing with mouthwash at least twice a day), and meals. They’re made of a lightweight transparent plastic which makes them virtually invisible! They don’t have any impact on your appearance, unlike metal braces, with wires and brackets that look like construction scaffolding on your smile.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Metal braces pull tightly on your teeth. Over time and with regular adjustments, your teeth are pulled into the correct position. Most people who have worn metal braces will tell you that you never get truly used to the sensation of having braces in, and getting an adjustment is no picnic either. The dentist has to tighten your wires every few weeks. It’s uncomfortable, and it’s even worse if you wind up with too much wire in your mouth: it will rub and poke the inside of your mouth the whole time it’s in, usually until your next adjustment!

Invisalign aligners don’t require inconvenient and painful adjustments. You’ll still need to go to your dentist’s office for check-ups on the progress of your alignment, but the visits are much less frequent (saving you lots of time). Instead, every two weeks (usually) you’ll receive a new set of aligners which you put it in yourself.

Each set of aligners you receive is slightly different from the rest. With metal braces, your teeth are pulled tightly into place and held in that position until it’s time to re-adjust. Aligners guide your teeth into place gently and gradually, following a “program” of treatment.

When you come in for your Invisalign treatment, your dentist will take digital images of your teeth. These images are fed into software that calculates all the “moves” your teeth will need to make to get in proper alignment. In 20 minutes, your dentist will have a custom-made treatment plan for you, and you’ll even get a look at how your teeth will look when your treatment is complete!

Your Smile Is Important!

It’s a bit of a cliche´, but your smile is very important, especially if you’re an adult (or teenager). Your smile is one of the most crucial parts of your appearance. Studies have shown over and over that a smile that is attractive and healthy plays a big role in how people relate to one another. The better your smile, the more trustworthy people will think you are, and the more likely they are to cooperate with you (and get you what you want).

Cooperation isn’t limited to just working together: it’s the glue that holds together all human relationships! It doesn’t matter if it’s a sale or a first date, it all starts with a smile.

Your smile should inspire confidence in everyone, including yourself!

Invisalign from Really Smile will help you achieve your best smile, your best confidence, and your best life.
